No illnesses have been reported, according to the manufacturer, Merrick Pet Care Inc. of Amarillo, Texas. Salmonella can affect animals, and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products. High Level Of Toxins In Corn Grains Blamed For Kroger Dog And Cat Food Recall

Tennessee Department of Agriculture and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigators found elevated levels of the toxic substance aflatoxin in some corn grains to blame for the Kroger Co. petfood recall in late December 2010.
